Well this is a rather awkward post for me because i have never blogged about my personal problems
First because i think it's kinda embarrassing and second because it was never quite a big deal to me
Until now .
It all started last year when i was in Form 4 .
I realized my English was deteriorating
My choice of reading materials became very elementary
I couldn't finish a book without losing interest halfway
At first i brushed it off as having a busy schedule
And then during the mid-terms , English slapped me in the face
I had scored a C .
A FREAKING C .
I was so devastated I thought I was going to cry right on the spot .
Not trying to brag but ever since kindergarten I have never scored anything less than an A for English .
So it was really quite a big blow for me
Okay so now I am a little distracted because there are a bunch of dancing juniors next to me HAHAHA
Back to the topic .
Last Monday , I participated in a district level public speaking contest .
I was only informed of this last minute .
I know this sounds like a bunch of excuses , but yeah nevertheless , I should be able to defend myself haha
First of all , this is my senior year , I AM GRADUATING THIS YEAR
I have never competed in any district level English competitions
And i was selected at the last year
Wtf people lolll .
BUT , this is not my first time on stage , so i do not have jitters or stage fright whatsoever
Anyways , i lost even before i started
( I went on stage , did my opening , and told the judges that I forgot my script . BEAT THAT )
It was quite a traumatic experience to be honest , but thrilling at the same time
Quite a shame that I'm graduating this year , I would've liked to compete again .
Anyways , the competition was really an eye opener for me .
There is a saying in Chinese that goes 一山还有一山高
which loosely translates into " there is always another mountain taller than this one "
It means that there will always be someone better than you .
I am grateful that I was given the chance to compete *and embarrass myself
But nonetheless , it showed me that i can do better
Well , bland and stupid ending , but lol whatevs KTHXBYE
